JSA Intersection Fundraising: Day 1

Before I am going to write about our fundraising activity, JSA has a good news!!!

Finally, we could make the first shot to sell our earthquake-tsunami relief t-shirts!!
Thank Rafael and Gabriel for making t-shirts.
We will continue to sell the t-shirts in our activities.
The price is $10 each, and all profits will be sent for the relief.


In this week, JSA moved our tables to the open area at west side of the Peter's Business Building for our fundraising activity.
Unfortunately, we could reserve the area only on Monday and Friday, and the first day was done.

It was sunny, but strong winds blew, so it was little bit cold.
However, many members helped, we could finished the first day with a success.

On this day, the amount of donations we got is....

$607.66!!


So the total is..


$3,428.11!!


Good job all and thank you for your help.
We still have this event on this Friday, so let's aim $4,000 by Friday!!

By the way in this week, we have some event coming up, so please check upcoming events below. We will also have a game night instead of our general meeting on Friday but will meet at our meeting room at 5 p.m. as usual, so please check our facebook page for more detail. JSA 8th Meeting (3/25/2011)

Hello, all.
This is Tomoki again.

Today, we had JSA 8th meeting at our favorite room, Science II 109.
First of all, we learned how to make ribbons we give to people who donate.
The ribbon is made of a red and white ribbon and a red glass stone.
This is the color of Japanese flag and represents our activity, so we should not just make the ribbons but should make with pray for Japan.

After that, we practiced how to make steamed rice and takoyakis for the Vintage Days.

This is the recipe for takoyaki...

• Ingredients (4 serving)
• Flour 300g
• Iced water 1L
• Egg 3
• Salt 3g
• Hondashi (instant bouillon) 1tsp
• Soy source 2tsp
• Shrimp 1 for each takoyaki
• Direction
• Mix eggs, salt, hondashi, and soy source
• Pour iced water
• Pour flour several times and mix them each time
• Apply vegetable oil on the takoyaki grill
• Pour dough you made into the plate
• Put a shrimp into each takoyaki
• Flip takoyaki when they are hard enough
• serve each dishes

I was surprised that everyone who helped was good at making takoyakis!!

I hope everyone enjoyed making and eating takoyaki with shrimp!!

JSA Free Speech Area Fundraising: Day 4

Hi everyone! This is Madoka!
We got $663.68 from nice people today
The total amount is $2820.45 for 4 days!! Congratulation everyone!
I really appreciate your kindness who join volunteer work.
thank you very much!
We also got other volunteer fundraising event days next week!!
We will do the same event at near business building from 10-3pm on Monday and Friday!!

JSA Free Speech Area Fundraising: Day 3

Third day of this fundraising event was unfortunately a rainy day,
but because of help of JSA volunteers, many people donated for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief although it was the third day.

We really appreciate the volunteers.

Before announcing the amount of donations we got today, please let me write some announcements.

• If it rains tomorrow and we put the table in front of the USU, all volunteers, please stay near the table, so we will not collect donations at the Free Speech Area.
• Please have professional manners when you ask people for donations, especially, please be careful what you say.
• If you make the ribbons, please tie the ribbons really strongly and glue the glass balls and the ribbons really sticky because many ribbons were untied and the glass balls fell off.

Thank you for your understanding.

And the total is....

$2,156.77!!!!


So yes, we have collected more than $2,000!!

I know today's amount is less than yesterday's, but many people had already donated, so this amount is very good in the third day!!

Again, than you all for your help!!
We only have one more day for this fundraising, so let's work one more day hard!!
And please do not forget JSA has a general meeting tomorrow (3/25 Fri) at Science II 109 at 5:00 p.m.!!

JSA Free Speech Area Fundraising: Day 2

The second day of JSA Free Speech Area Fundraising was held in rain.
We moved our table to in front of the University Student Union, but some members help to to collect donations in rain at the Free Speech Area.

Today, we got $634.32.

I think this is a good amount of donation in a rainy day.
In my opinion, if we ask to people to donate, especially, to people who look they have some interest to what we are doing, we have more chance to get donations.
So from tomorrow, let's be more active, especially, those who stay by the table.

Yesterday, our count of donations were 10 cent off, so the total amount of donations is....




$1,682.77!!

JSA Free Speech Area Fundraising: Day 1

Finally, one of our biggest fundraising event, "JSA Free Speech Area Fundraising," had started under the sun!!

Today, with audience and four cameras, our kick-off event was held at the Free Speech Area at Fresno State.
Before this event, Toshiro Hutchens, JSA President, had an intervew.
The event began with the statement by Dr. Yoshiko Takahashi, our faculty advisor, and Dr. Katsuyo Howard, the coordinator of this event and our former faculty advisor, spoke to the audience followed by her.
To conclude this event, we danced "Rock Soran," and the kick-off event ended with "san-san-nana byoushi."
I heard this event was broadcasted on TV (KSEE24 and ABC 30's ?).

Then we continued our fundraising, and hundreds people donated for Japan.
I am happy that many people (including our JSA members, of course!!) care about Japan.


Today, we got....












$1,048.55 donation to Japan!!!!!!!!!

JSA 7th Meeting (March 18, 2011)

This post was supposed to be before "Ee-Tai" Help Japan, but...
JSA had the 7th meeting on Friday, March 18, 2011.

This became one of the most important meeting for us because Japan had huge disasters two weeks ago, and we decided to make action to collect donations for the relief.

Many people including Japanese faculties came to the meeting and listened to what JSA would do.

Actions we are planning for far are...

• Free Speech Area JSA Fundraising

• Donation Boxes/Jars
• We are looking for restaurants, grocery stores, and any other places to place our donation boxes.
• If you know any place we can put our donation boxes or know owners of any business, please let us know.

"Ee-Tai" Help Japan

Hi all.
This is Tomoki.

Today we made ribbons for our donation activities at "Green Soybean's" house.
Thank you, Green Soybean, for making this event and letting us use your house.

We started making ribbons around noon, and I believe we had fun to make them.

We set a goal which is 250 ribbons today and reached the goal!!
We will discuss from when we will use the ribbons, but it should be soon.
I think we will need more ribbons in the future, so we might have another ribbon making event.

Thank everyone who helped this event and again thank you, Green Soybean!!

JSA has a big fundraising event called "Free-Speech Area Fundraising."

From this coming Tuesday, we will set a booth at the Free Speech Area on campus between the library and the University Student Union.
